Plans for the development of Apple’s new “Spaceship” headquarters in Cupertino continue to move forward – and some recently posted updated docs show some amazing new green details.

Beyond the integrated photovoltaics on the roof of the “spaceship”, we now also see what the designers envision for the interior circle of the spherical HQ. Basically, Apple is building a park/fruit farm – complete with a gigantic fountain in the center.

And this isn’t just some token nod to agriculture. Based on these specs, Apple clearly intends to use the fruit trees it plants to stock its cafeterias and help feed the more than 14,000 people who will work there. Here are the details:

  • 243 apple trees will dominate the southwest corner of the inner-circle. 11 different varieties will be planted, including Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Pink Lady, and Sierra Beauty. Nearly all will be heirloom varieties.
  • Directly opposite the apples will be 160 plum trees and a small apricot grove.
  • A giant fountain will dominate the center of the spaceship and be ringed by smaller ponds and other water highlights.

And this is in addition to the 6,000 trees Apple plans to plant throughout the 150-acre campus. You can bet Apple will likely join Google in adding some bee hives to their plan as well – especially in those inner-circle orchards. Jump here to see the full docs.
